What commission will I pay in an ECN Pro account?

The per-side commission on an ECN Pro account is 0.002%. The round turn commission (opening/closing) is 0.004%. The total commission is calculated with the following formula:

Notional value x 0.00004, where notional value is converted into your account’s currency.

Let’s look at some examples:

Example 1

A trader has an account in US Dollars and he buys 1 lot of EUR/USD at the price of 1.33412.

What commission will be deducted from the trader’s account?

In this example, the quote currency is already the same currency as the trader’s account currency (USD). The notional value will be 100,000 x 1.33412 = 133,412 USD. The round turn commission (opening/closing) for the trade will be: 133,412 USD * 0.00004 = 5.34 USD.

Example 2

A trader has an account in US Dollars and he buys 1 lot of USD/JPY at the price of 102.700.

What commission will be deducted from the trader’s account?

In this example, the quote currency is JPY, so we must convert the results from JPY to the account’s currency (USD). The notional value will be 100,000 x 102.70 = 10,270,000 JPY. The round turn commission (opening/closing) for the trade will be: 10,270,000 JPY x 0.00004 = 410.8 JPY. But since the account’s currency is in USD, we must convert this value to US Dollars: 410.80 JPY / 102.70 (current market rate for USD/JPY) = 4 USD.

Example 3

A trader has an account in US Dollars and he sells 1 lot of GBP/CHF at the price of 1.53278.

What commission will be deducted from the trader’s account?

In this example, the quote currency is CHF, so we must convert the results from CHF to the account’s currency (USD). The notional value will be 100,000 x 1.53278 = 153,278 CHF. The round turn commission (opening/closing) for the trade will be: 153,278 CHF x 0.00004 = 6.13 CHF. But since the account’s currency is in USD, we must convert this value to US Dollars: 6.13 CHF / 0.90984 (current market rate for USD/CHF) = 6.73 USD.

Example 4

A trader has an account in US Dollars. The trader buys 1 lot of XAU/USD (Gold) at the price of 1300 USD. What commission will be deducted from the trader’s account?

In this example, the quote currency is already the same currency as the trader’s account currency (USD). The notional value will be 100 (contract size for Gold) x 1300 = 130,000 USD. The round turn commission (opening/closing) for the trade will be: 130,000 USD x 0.00004 = 5.2 USD.

  • Trade example with Oil

A trader paid attention to the liquid and widely traded asset – Oil. The price for oil depends on many factors , for example ratio between supply and demand, seasonal and weather factors etc.

After studying of the fundamental and technical analysis, the trader arrived at the conclusion that the price for Oil in USA ( US Crude) will go up.

The trader bought 1 lot of US Crude Oil with the price of 30 USD.

The margin for the trade was calculated by the following formula:

    Market price*Contract Size*Trade Volume*Margin size

So, margin for 1 lot of US Crude Oil is 30*100*1*2/100 = 60 USD

Margin requirements for Oil can increase or decrease whilst the asset price fluctuates.

After couple of days, the price went up and reached the level of 35 USD and the trader decided to fix the profit. The gained earning was calculated by the following formula:

(Close price – Open price)* Tick price* Trade Volume/ Tick size

As a result, the gained profit will be: (35 – 30)*1*1/0.01= 500 USD

  • Trade example with an Index

A trader decided to make profit by using the most popular worldwide index – the American S&P 500 index.  The trader made a bet that the S&P 500 index will grow.

The trader started its MetaTrader 4 terminal, found US500 symbol and opened a trade with 1 lot at the price of 1850 points.

Margin requirements are defined by the following formula:

Nominal Value of the contract * Trade Volume * Margin size

    So, margin for 1 lot of US500 is: 1850*1 USD*1*1/100 = 18.5 USD

Margin requirements for indices can increase or decrease whilst the index price fluctuates.

Shortly afterwards, the index grew to 1900 points and the trader decided to fix the profit, which is calculated by the following formula:

(Close price – Open price)* Tick price* Trade Volume/ Tick size

As a result, the gained profit will be: (1900 – 1850)*0.10*1/0.1= 50 USD
